Royal Blind are Scotland’s largest visual impairment organisation. Set up over 225 years ago, the charity’s vision is to see a community in which blind and partially sighted people, including those who have other disabilities, are fully included and lead fulfilling lives. They care for, educate and employ blind and partially sighted people from across Scotland.
Royal Blind have recently completed a period of strategic review and the Enterprise Manager will support the charity’s new ambition and the organisation’s future growth. This is a brand-new position and the right candidate will play a pivotal role supporting the identification and development of new opportunities for the charity such as social enterprise, commerce or service development possibilities. Networking skills will be essential to the success of this role as the charity seeks to establish new and productive relationships across a range of sectors.
In addition, the charity is looking for someone with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and who has solid experience with planning, writing and co-ordinating tender responses or major funding bids or equivalent. You should have strong leadership experience, the ability to take initiative and to work well with others. The ideal candidate will have strong business and commercial acumen, and will be able to effectively identify risk, make difficult decisions based on sound judgment and use initiative to make effective decisions. Experience working with social enterprise models is desirable but not essential.
You should be able to demonstrate a passion for the third sector and show empathy and passion for Royal Blind’s work and its beneficiary groups. Getting this new role off the ground will be as challenging as it is rewarding so you will need to have determination and tenacity to lead and develop this new role within the organisation.
