Data Protection Officer (“DPO”)

Salary: £43,000 FTE

Base:  Edinburgh, Scotland (pending office move from St Andrews)

Hours: Part time/flexible

Benefits: 10% pension contribution, 33 days annual leave FTE

The Role

At Worldwide Cancer Research we value each and every one of our supporters and take our obligations to them seriously. We are seeking a qualified and experienced DPO to champion the security, safeguarding and accuracy of our supporters’ personal data so that it is used in line with their wishes and expectations.

The DPO will oversee the charity’s obligations in the collection, processing, control and security of personal data.  They will ensure ongoing compliance with current and future data protection regulations and sector good practice, proactively providing support, advice, training and guidance to all colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role, ideally in the charity sector, with excellent people skills and confidence in communicating.   A sound working knowledge of CRM and other data storage systems and understanding of data processing and use will be essential.

Purpose

The key purpose of the role is to establish, build, lead and manage the day-to-day activities surrounding the collection, processing, control and security of personal data across the organisation, ensuring ongoing compliance with current and future data protection regulations, and industry good practice.

To provide expert support, advice, training and guidance across the organisation concerning the on-going implementation of data protection policies and procedures, ensuring all colleagues are fully informed of their own responsibilities for acting within the law.
