CREATE Paisley was formed over 11 years ago to meet the needs of local young people and with a vision of seeing young people transformed through creativity, community, confidence and finding their voice.
These 4 values – creativity, community, confidence and voice – shape the charity’s work, vision and goals. CREATE aims to see the following:
- Young people develop creative skills
- Young people have access to creative & cultural opportunities
- Young people increase in confidence & wellbeing
- Young people are more resilient & optimistic for the future
- Young people develop friendships & supportive relationships
- Young people are more meaningfully engaged in their community
- Young people find it easier to express themselves
- Young people’s voices are heard and acted on
This is done through a rich and diverse creative and arts programme including open mic nights, song-writing, a visual arts programme, co-production and much more. The charity puts its values firmly at the root of everything it does. These values are inspired by the young people who attend CREATE and the charity’s Christian ethos and foundation. CREATE is, however, open to people of all faiths and none.
CREATE have helped hundreds of young people already and aspire to help many, many more by increasing their offering and expanding their services beyond their current geographic area. The charity is looking a new chairperson with a passion and drive for enriching the lives of young people throughout Renfrewshire through partnering in our vision and values and offering their skills and experience. The chairperson will lead the organisation at this exciting stage of growth and development.
The chairperson will have a strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of the organisation and will carry out the following responsibilities:
- Provide organisational leadership.
- Ensure the board functions properly.
- Support and supervise senior staff.
- Represent the organisation.
You will need to have previous management experience and be able to act as a pivot point between the board and the senior management. You will also have an understanding of the third sector and previous experience of working on a committee or boards.
The board meets around 6 times a year including AGM. There are sub-committees in fundraising and policy who meet four or five times a year. The chair would not be required to attend all sub-committee meetings.
