Over the last ten years, the Trustees of Edinburgh Palette have turned a dormant ex-government office block into a thriving catalyst for creative partnerships and incubator for small enterprises. St Margaret’s House is now home to over 450 artists and numerous community and sports organisations.
Generating in excess of £3 million of social value each year, at an impressive ROI, the whole is definitely very much greater than the sum of the parts.
Operating without any form of subsidy or external funding, St Margaret’s House was only ever going to be a temporary home, where Edinburgh Palette could exercise a proof of concept.
They are now expanding into other interim spaces and exploring new options for their eclectic and vibrant communities. But their ultimate goal is to identify permanent, scalable solutions that can be the sustainable foundations for creative endeavour and community services in cities throughout Scotland, the UK and internationally.
To help them fulfil the potential of the Palette concept, they need a new Chair of Trustees.
This exceptional person will be dynamic, forward-thinking and innovative. Conscious of the creation of social value and the importance of Scotland’s creative industries, they will have experience of strategic leadership and be well-networked in the public, private and third sectors.
