In stunning surroundings and with an unparalleled history, the Shetland Amenity Trust is a dynamic and forward-thinking charity based in Lerwick, Shetland.
It has a broad remit and constantly strives to preserve and enhance everything that is distinctive about Shetland’s cultural and natural heritage, promoting access to it whether physical or intellectual.
This highly-regarded and well-led organisation is looking for prospective trustees with a genuine interest in Shetland and its future, and skills and experience in:
- Financial aspects of operating a Third Sector organisation
- Setting, controlling and monitoring budgets
- Accounting practice, audit and investment
- The ability to ask meaningful and challenging questions on all aspects of the Trust’s finances
It is looking for a strong individual who is innovative and imaginative, able to provide strength and depth to its organisational development. You will strengthen the charity’s financial strategy and control aspects of the organisation, including audit and setting direction for the staff.
The appointment will be for a term of 4 years, with the possibility of further terms, and the successful candidate should be able to attend monthly Board meetings and contribute to sub-committees and strategy days. It may be possible to use Skype or Facetime for some meetings. An induction will be provided and candidates will be given key documents to help their understanding of the charity and its role.
