VASLan is the Third Sector Interface for South Lanarkshire and works to create and support resilient and empowered communities which will enable a stronger, fairer, and more equitable South Lanarkshire with volunteers and thriving local third sector organisations at its heart.
Funded by the Scottish Government, South Lanarkshire’s Health and Social Care Partnership and South Lanarkshire Council, VASLan is the voice of the third sector in South Lanarkshire that brings charities, communities, and volunteers together to fight for funding and legislation. As well as working at a local level, VASLan also works to ensure a strong third sector voice at a strategic level within local and national planning structures and provide leadership, vision, and coordination to the local third sector to better respond to local priorities, including through partnership and collaboration.
It is an exciting time to join VASLan as they are going through an exciting period of growth – over 100% in the past 18 months and are on the cusp of launching a new organisational strategy for the next couple of years. VASLan will be reprioritising volunteering, proactively enabling organisations to access capacity building supports, preparing the third sector for further growth, raising the visibility of the third sector’s fantastic work, accelerating partnership and collaborative working and promoting best practice governance, and more.
The growth of VASLan has seen the organisational structure undergo a reshaping to accommodate future growth. This has created new positions, including the IT Systems Support Officer, that will support VASLan through IT system support and development. The IT Systems Support Office will have a varied role with links across a range of varied subject matters within the organisation to which the IT Systems Support Officer provides developmental and systems support. The successful candidate will focus on the day-to-day activities to ensure VASLan’s IT infrastructure remains healthy and viable. They will also support operational colleagues with implementing new systems, providing training as required, and general on-going support to end user colleagues. This role will also focus on assisting in the configuration of systems and in the development of reporting mechanisms, delivering solution driven support for South Lanarkshire’s TSI.
To apply for this position, you must be a qualified IT professional or have experience working in a relevant IT support or development role. The role will also suit an IT graduate that is looking to make their first step on the career ladder or starting a career within the third sector. You will be a positive individual who works well with all levels of colleagues across the organisation. The successful candidate will have the ability to work on their own initiative with good knowledge and understanding of the principles of data protection, current legislation and provide continual system improvement, which will include experience of App development.
