Harmeny Education Trust is a sector leading children’s charity, providing therapeutic care and education for children with complex additional support needs. We work with children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis. The school is situated in Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, in a beautiful thirty-five-acre estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, mature woodland, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats, children’s play areas and a mountain bike track.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Care Management Team as a Service Manager (Residential) on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the operational management and growth of the organisation, working closely with the other members of the Management Team to maintain Harmeny’s sector leading provision and develop new services. The Service Manager (Residential) will lead on aspects relating to the therapeutic care and developmental needs of children who are resident in two cottages, taking full account of policies and practices informed by Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) and Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), and encouraging the support of families and carers.
A practice qualification in line with the SSSC requirements for Managers of Residential Childcare Services as well as SVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services (LMCS) (Level 4) or equivalent are essential. Applicants must be eligible and prepared to register with the Scottish Social Services Council. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check.
The salary scale for this post runs from Point 43, £38,478 to Point 49, £44,174.
