For the past 25 years, Refugee Survival Trust has existed to support Refugees and Asylum seekers seeking safety in Scotland to find a route out of poverty and connect with other people within the community. Hundreds of people seeking asylum and refuge in Scotland face extreme poverty, destitution, and homelessness as they struggle to support themselves and their families. This incredible small charity has a vision of a welcoming, inclusive, safe Scotland for refugees and asylum seekers, where all live free of destitution and have the means and opportunities to realise their full potential and help over 2000 people every year.

Many Refugees cannot return home or are afraid to do so due to war, tribal and religious violence, and often experience feelings of pain, struggle, and hopelessness. Being at risk of extreme poverty, homelessness, trafficking and modern slavery can result in mental, physical, and emotional trauma. RST provide emergency grants for asylum seekers facing homelessness and extreme poverty, travel grants, and bus passes for women seeking asylum who are heavily pregnant or have recently had a baby. In addition to this, RST supports refugees to access education and employment and provide temporary community accommodation for those who would otherwise be homeless and provide trauma informed support.
