COVEY Befriending are a values lead organisation passionate about adding colour to lives. In particular, the lives of children, young people and families across South Lanarkshire and areas of North Lanarkshire.

COVEY befrienders and mentors help children and young people aged from 8 to 19 as well as their parents/carers by building strong and trusting relationships and as a result, boost moral and wellbeing to those they support. This is accomplished through relationship-based mentoring and befriending on a one-to-one basis or in groups. Many of COVEY participants are affected by a range of hardships such as poverty, mental health difficulties and can be living isolated lives. COVEY Befriending support their participants by helping them become more resilient and better equipped to reach their full potential on their life journeys.

Next year will see the organisation celebrate its 30th anniversary and COVEY have plans to continue expanding their services. They are currently in the second year of implementing a three-year strategic plan that seeks to double the number of participants they currently support as well as future-proofing the organisation for continued growth.

COVEY is now looking to recruit a Chair that will support through this exciting time. The incoming Chair will share the values and ethos of COVEY. COVEY is looking for a Chair that holds leadership qualities, excellent presentation and communication skills and an ability to achieve results through people. The Chair is expected to have experience, connections and networks within the third and public sectors. Previous experience of committee work, and chair experience would be advantageous.
